Skatepark in Lebanon

Today we are launching a fundraising campaign to build Lebanon’s first public skatepark in the center of the country’s capital Beirut.

In August 2020, after the explosion in the port of Beirut, we initiated a relief fund in support of skaters in Lebanon. Already before the explosion the Lebanese economy collapsed and the skaters were barely able to afford skate gear. Because of the explosion, skateboarding became nearly impossible but as one of the few outlets left for the mental and physical health of many young people in Beirut, skateboarding was needed more than ever. With the Relief Fund, we contributed with immediate disaster relief such as medical expenses, reconstruction and clean-up, covered university fees, and made available skate gear and shoes to more than 80 skaters.

Working together with the Lebanese Skateboarding Association (LSA) on the relief fund laid the foundation for developing the bigger picture - to build the county’s first public skatepark. While providing disaster relief and gear for skaters in Lebanon, we were able to conclude further partnerships with local NGOs such as Arcenciel and Just Childhood, and get the municipality of Beirut and brands such as Air France, CHPO Brand and Decathlon Skateboarding on board for our project.

Additional to the support that we are already receiving, MLSL is committing to raise 17,500 USD.

Snoubar Skatepark will be located in the public park Horsh in the center of Beirut and will be open for everyone. Thank you for helping us make this project a reality!
