I stepped on a skateboard for the first time when the skatepark was there. Now I skate every day.

Inukjuak Skatepark benefits Inuit youth in the Nunavik region. The remote town of Inukjuak has a population of 1800 with two thirds under 35 years. The region struggles with lack of housing, difficulty in obtaining running water and the long lasting and traumatic effects of colonization. These issues have major impacts on the well being and health of youth in Nunavik.

We built a 300m² skatepark and introduced skateboarding to the local community, offering a space that allows for positive activities. A loaner program is in place with locals earning a salary for giving out and managing gear. The project was carried out with support from the Inuulitsivik Health Center, Makivik, the local municipality & school, as well as CRT Construction.
